About Maren

Maren

I love design.

That’s a bit of a broad statement but I do really get excited when something works as perfectly as it looks. For me design is so much more than aesthetics, it is about organizing complexities into a simple and sometimes beautiful experience.

I try to live by what I believe as much as possible and have gone to great lengths to distill the complexities in my own life into more manageable experiences. For years I have maintained research books and an archive of this process. For example, I was lucky enough to spend a great deal of my childhood living and traveling throughout Europe but through the years it becomes harder to remember when and where I’ve been, so I created a visualization of my 12 major moves (red), 15 moves within a city (orange) and the 13 schools I have attended (blue):

So how did I get interested in medtech? Probably because of the accident I had in the mid-90s that involved a windshield, my skull and total loss of hearing in my left ear. As a result of that experience I began researching medical technologies like implanted neuro devices for hearing. What I found was that medtech is interesting, geeky and for such a great cause that I decided to focus my marketing career in the medical field.

Medtech is a fantastic convergence of technology and biology with limitless applications in need of good design. I think my skills and background can help design better health resources and I am intensely passionate about this cause both personally and professionally.
